What's Glenn Saying?

So, Glenn has some key phrases/questions he says ALL THE TIME, and repeatedly.
"Oh man!"
"Why?"
"No Way!"
"Why?"
"What are you doing?"
"Why?"
"What's that?"
The last 3 he will ask a million times, even if I answer him. He just keeps asking. It's funny, but can drive me crazy. He asked me what I was doing the entire time we were driving to his school yesterday.

We had orientation yesterday and met his new teacher. She seems wonderful and has some great ideas. And I plan on helping out in the class as much as I can. This is at our new elementary school. Everyone can walk or ride bikes to school. We plan on walking in the morning and driving to pick him up until it gets cooler. Then I'll walk to get, him, too. I got a double jogging stroller so I can bring both boys when I go to the school. It would be too long of a walk for Glenn, and it would take us forever if he walked. Glenn has two of his classmates from last year and this summer in his class, including his very good friend. I hope that makes it easier for him the first few days, less tears.

I'm sorry it's been so long since I last posted. Bob was away after my parents left, so I had the boys all to myself. And then all my free time was taken up by studying for the certification exam in public health, a 4 hour test which I took on Monday. I won't find out how I did until October, but I think I did well enough. So, now that the exam is over, I can focus on more fun things.

Bob's parents were here for a week, and just left this morning to go back home. My sister, Lisa, is coming this Sunday for a few days. Alex is growing so fast. The hat he wore home from the hospital that was too big for him then fits perfect now. And he's already outgrowing some of his clothes. I remember being so excited about Glenn growing up and couldn't wait for the next step. But this time I'm trying to hold on to just how Alex is now.

Alex started giving us social smiles on Saturday. These are from yesterday. They melt our heart:

We knew it would happen eventually. Glenn now imitates Alex when Alex is crying. Glenn fake cried for a good 10 minutes yesterday. Silly boy. Not much is new this past week. Nights are still long for Alex and me. He tends to want to be awake when I want to sleep. At Alex's 2 week check-up, he weighed 9 lbs, 3 oz. So, he's gaining weight really well, despite having some reflux issues which only allows him to eat a little at a time. Hopefully he'll grow out of that once his system matures a bit. Otherwise he's completely healthy. He is still hanging on to his umbilical cord stump. It looks like it's getting close to falling off. Then he'll be able to wear his cute little shorts.

My brother and his wife visited this week. My parents are still in FL, but went to visit my dad's brother and family for the weekend. They'll be coming back tonight and then will leave to go home on Wednesday. Then I'll be on my own. I can handle Alex, but Glenn is the one that is more difficult to handle right now. It's hard for him to understand that I can't always help him right away, especially if I'm feeding Alex. His summer school is over, but he'll be starting up school again Aug 18th. So, between now and then I'm setting him up with play dates so he can play with kids his age.

My dad arrived on Thursday. He and Bob are working on putting down a slate floor out in the lanai. It's looking really nice. Nights are still tough. Alex got up 5 times last night to eat. I make sure I get a really good nap in the afternoon to help make up for the sleep I don't get at night. Here are some more pictures.











The hat was a gift from my dad. He stopped at South of the Border in South Carolina on his way down here. Thankfully the hat is too small. :)
