What am I going to do with Alexander? Now that I have the living room completely gated off, he has learned to climb. He climbed onto the side table and onto the couch this morning. Now he won't stop!!! I don't know what I'm going to do. He also climbed onto what I have blocking another higher side table to get onto the table. He's so quick! Thankfully, I've gotten him right off so he hasn't hurt himself... yet!

Alexander has also been very grumpy that past couple weeks. We thought maybe it was his teeth, but then I realized that every time I left the room, as soon as he realizes I'm not there, he cries. Also, my dad is hear visiting, and when he's been with my dad for too long, even if I'm in the room, he starts to cry. So, I've figured out he has developed separation anxiety. It should be interesting at the eye doctor's tomorrow, and then my dad is watching him on Thursday when I go to another doctor (at least he'll be sleeping most the time I'm gone). I'm going a little crazy because either I don't get anything done while he's awake, or I have to let him cry. But if I try to play with him, he doesn't want that either. He wants to play by himself, but w/ me in the room.

We got Glenn a little pool to play in the back yard. We were inflating it yesterday, and Glenn was so excited. He said, "Thank you Mommy! I love you!" And he gave me the biggest hug. It's a really small pool, but enough for Glenn to slide into. I can even sit in there to stay cool, although I haven't... yet.

Imaginary Friend?

When Glenn is having problems falling asleep, and I catch him standing in his doorway, he always tells me the same thing this past week. I ask why he's up, and he says, "frorum." He leads me by the hand and brings me to his bed and says frorum. I have tried to figure out what he's talking about and try to make things better in his room, and he says, "still frorum." So, tonight Bob and I kept asking him questions about this frorum. I ask him if it was good or bad, and he said bad. Then he pointed to sum books on the chair and said they were frorum. So, I moved them off the chair and put them in the bookshelf. Well, that apparently contaminated the whole book shelf. Because then we just ended up taking all the books off the shelf and put them in the hall closet because they were "more frorum." Bob asked if frorum was a boy or a book. At first he said it was a boy, then he switch to a book. When I asked what frorum does, he said "pushed it." We think there might have been a book that fell one night and that scared him because we have a book that talks about mice pushing books off shelves pretending to be a book (remember that book, Cindy? That's from the boys' collection). He loves reading that book, so I don't think he's scared of that story, but think there might be a connection there. That's the most we could figure out. I feel so sorry for him, because he was very serious about it. Poor kid!

Glenn is doing better at swim lessons. He is at least a willing participant. I've enjoyed going to the pool each day, but it's a lot easier when I just have Alexander to take care of while Glenn's in his lessons. I got this big blow up star fish that Alexander sits in and has a sun shade. He loves it. In the spray ground kids pool, he usually tries to walk all over the place, no fear. He doesn't want to hold my hand, but I make him anyway. Glenn was kind of upset that he didn't have his lesson yesterday; Friday is a make up day if it rains.

We had the irrigation company come out yesterday. They fixed our irrigation system so that the fence doesn't interfere with watering the lawn. It was so loud when the water would hit the fence, and we felt bad that it was happening right near our neighbor's master bedroom. It was money we didn't want to spend, but it had to be done. The lawn by the pond is all dead because it's wasn't getting watered.

Today, we went to the pool so Glenn could show his Daddy what he's learning in swim lessons. Alexander is usually very happy in the pool. But he was not happy today. He just wasn't feeling himself yesterday and today. I feel so bad for him when he's miserable.

This week, we have swim lessons again on Monday through Thursday. Then my Dad will get here for a visit on Thursday. Glenn has a birthday party to go to on Friday and another on Saturday. So, it'll be a busy, fun week!

Here are some new pictures. This first one is of Glenn showing off what the tooth fairy gave him for his tooth: a ring pop.

Alexander loves to go after his brother, whether he's sitting on the couch or the floor. Sometimes he attacks Glenn (usually going after his hair) and other times he will just lay down on the floor next to Glenn and roll into him. He laughs the whole time.

Our garden is growing very well. Every time it rains, which has been every day for the past few weeks except for today, Glenn says that it's helping the garden grow. We have veggies on pretty much all the plants now. The green beans are going to be ready for the first harvest by the end of this week. I love fresh green beans! I have several herbs, which we've been using for weeks now.

Glenn started swim lessons on Monday. It didn't go so well the first day. I think a big part of it is that he doesn't know his teachers. But it was a little better yesterday. He's scared of putting his head under water and jumping into the pool. But that's what the lessons are for.

I finally took a short video of Alexander walking. He did it twice and then he was all done. He walks a lot more when it's his idea to walk rather than mine.

Glenn had a fun party at school on Wednesday. They had a bounce house, crafts, food, games, and we finished it with a picnic. Here are some pictures of the fun.

Today was Glenn's first full day without school. He realized mid morning what that really meant. I was trying to get him to write some letters for me, and he suddenly started crying. I asked him if he was sad. He said he was. And then it dawned on me why he was sad. When I asked him if he was sad because he missed school, he said yes as he started crying again. Poor kid. I wrote his teacher an email since I knew she was still at school today, and told her what happened, and she said she started crying, too when she read that. But we had a fun day today. I tried to keep him busy so he'd wear out and take a nap. He slept for 2 hours this afternoon (I got a nap in, too). :)

But the big news of the day is...

...Glenn's other tooth finally came out. Bob actually pulled it. When Glenn got up from his nap, we could see the top of the tooth, so it was only connected in the back. We didn't want it to get infected, so Bob pulled it out. Want to hear something gross? (If you don't skip the rest of this). Bob tried pulling it fast, and it didn't come out. So, he pulled it out slowly and it came out. I had to leave the room for him to do it because I didn't want Glenn to see how anxious I was about it. It didn't hurt him, thankfully. So, it's under the pillow for the tooth fairy.

Glenn had his last day of school today (all 1 and 1/2 hours). His teachers were fighting back tears at pick-up time. It's sweet to see that they care so much about the kids. But the kids clearly didn't see what the big deal was. Although, last night, I told Glenn that tomorrow was going to be his last day and he needed to say good-bye to his teachers. He said he didn't want to. Then I remembered he doesn't like good-byes. I said, "You don't want to say good-bye?" He shook his head no. I asked him, "Do you want to just say hi instead?" He said yes. I told his teachers that, and they thought it was sweet. When we were leaving, he said that there was no more school. Then he asked about church school. I told him that was over until the end of the summer, too. The poor kid just wants to go to school. On the way home, he said, "No school. No lots of fun." I said that we can have lots of fun at home, can't we. He perked up and said, "Yeah, toys. Good job, Mommy. Give me five!" I guess he thought that I had a good idea.

Alexander can now walk across the living room if he takes his time. He'll stop a few times so he can catch his balance, then continues on. But most of the time he gets excited and wants to get to whatever he sees quickly and tries to run. Then of course he falls pretty quickly. He's been really sore with one of his molars trying to break through. Tonight, I gave him some teething gel and he let me rock him with his head on my shoulder. Ever since he began to crawl, he has not let me rock him. Once he's fed he doesn't want me to hold him anymore. So, although I felt bad for him because he was in pain, I really enjoyed rocking him. I was rocking Glenn today after he fell out of his bed during quiet time (who knows what he was doing in bed that made him fall). It was definitely not like rocking a baby since he's so tall now, but I'll take what I can get. :)

We had a fun weekend. We went to Sail Jacksonville on Saturday. They had probably 10 boats on the St. John's River in downtown Jacksonville. Some were really big sailing ships and some were smaller. Glenn was so excited to go on them. There were a lot of people dressed as pirates, which was a bit scary for Glenn, but he did okay. We also had ice cream and Glenn got to jump around in a bounce house shaped like a ship and make a sand castle. Alexander and I sat on the walk by the water while Bob and Glenn went on the ships, although we all went on the largest one together.

Here's Glenn at the wheel of the biggest ship:

And here's Alexander wearing his sailboat romper (yes, that was planned)while we waited for Bob and Glenn. He's grinding his teeth on his gums since they are so sensitive from his teeth trying to break through:
